I was in the main 'social space' of the building - the atrium, where there are hundreds of students and staff milling about; coming into the building to get to lectures, having a coffee in the main atrium, going to the shop that's there. But the whole place came to a silent and respectful complete standstill at 11am, and it gave me chills. To see so many young people paying their respects was wonderful. Many of them are foreign students, and with our local population here, many of the youngsters I saw will have been British Muslims. Just as I don't think automatically of Harley-riding bikers as the typical 'veteran' (part of the surprise and delight of your images here) I'm sure many of your readers might have been surprised to see the scenes I witnessed at my workplace yesterday. I really wish I'd had my camera with me, though I doubt I'd have captured anything as eloquent as your beautiful images here. I especially love the first one. Great job Scott.Josiehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/fraserjnoreply@blogger.com
