The last couple days we have been getting some much needed rain, and one of my favorite things to do is to take my Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro out as soon as the water stops falling and grab a few shots.
I like to get real close, have the depth of field real shallow, and here are the results.

nice pics :) really liking the first one with the yellow pop of color!

Very nice, Scott. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Scott!

Scott, great shots as usual! One question, do you find that you need a tripod, or is it easy enough to hand hold and still get good results with that shallow dof?
ReplyDeleteMiguel,
ReplyDeleteI hand hold and usually shoot these kind of shots aperture priority.
Thanks everyone for the kind words...

Great shots Scott. Drops of water just adds another dimension to a macro shot.
ReplyDeleteThat said, why wait for the rain to come and go. Bring your own rain in a spray bottle - no wet shoes, and you can put your gear on the grass/ground without soaking it.
Jan,
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestion...
I have been told that in addition to water in the bottle, you should add something...like soap? to get the water to "stick" better. I don't do much macro, so I don't remember. I have been told that we don't need to wait for the rain as well. We must all think about the light source as well. Using a ring flash or twin flashes will set the light distance making it easier to get the exact lighting you need with a preset aperture, ISO, and shutter speed. Marion
